If I made those commercials, I'd make them all wear socks or slippers. Feet are inherently ugly. One would think seeing ugly bare feet would make people less inclined to buy furniture, not more.
They don't do many (if any) interracial couples in commercials here. It puts too many people off their lunch.
I think there should be more pretty interracial couples and fewer bare feet. I'd buy a new sofa every year if they did that.

Personally seeing bare feet on TV is gross. Message to all of those barefoot proponents- I don't need to see your stinking, athlete's foot, fungus infested feet on my tv. You want to go barefoot all the time- that means you go barefoot, outside, in the winter, walking in the snow and ice, and no, I don't want to hear "my feet will freeze". It is an absolute- either you are barefoot ALL THE TIME, or you wear shoes and socks like the rest of civilized people. You cannot have it both ways. Seeing bare feet on commercials makes me less inclined to by a product. Here's another thing- when I am flying, don't take your freaking shoes and socks off. The rest of us passengers do NOT need to smell your gross foot funk. We are in an enclosed space, show some consideration. You can wait to get back to the hotel or your home where the rest of us do not have to see your feet or smell them.

Er--I never have shoes on indoors. Half the time I'm in bare feet, sometimes in socks. I don't see why anyone would get hot under the collar about seeing someone barefooted in an ad.
In fact, what's way odder than this is why nobody in tv shows ever has their shoes off in their own home. Any theories on that one?

It's to make the viewers think that the sofas will feel all soft and squishy and comfy. What annoys me most about those commercials is the recent trend of giving the price as only "299" or just "195". 195 what? Groats? Kilos?

I never really noticed that but I did notice this one lady barefoot on the sofa by herself hawking said product on TV. I must say it did not give me that homey feeling just made me wonder where the heck she put her shoes! LOL

And do their sales run year round? I can't remember the last time DHS weren't doing a sale. And why don't any of them want any money till 3010? Are these companies run by millionaires? Or usuries?

Its not PC gone mad, it is wishful thinking on harmonising society through media attention, it isn't going to work because humans are selfish.

Next thing they'll have black sofas with white foot stools. It won't be truly PC until they do that.
