There was also no detent cable on this set up. Just a vacuum plug over the rod in the trans housing.I did a little interstate run in the truck like this. Would a missing cable cause a totals trans meltdown?

3 quarts in fine to start with but make sure you have at least 14 quarts, as for the kickdown cable it wont cause trans melt down, it just wont downshift. when you say no detent in this setup do you mean for the vehicle??? because if the trans has one and your vehicle doesnt there is a problem somewhere

ive run many a TH350 in trans ams and camaros with no detent cable attached and never had a problem. although you wont be able to force a downshift. youll have to manually downshift. if your using a specially built transmission with a detent cable delete, the builder will be able to tell you more about it.

absence of your detent hook-up will eventually cause you problems.
