I've already contacted child support enforcement. They are doing their best, I'm sure, but working very slowly. I've also considered a private investigator but cannot afford one. I'd follow him myself but he lives several states away. How is it possible that we can find out a physical address, phone #, debts, etc. but cannot locate a person's place of employment through online research? Am I missing something?

He may be getting paid under the table. No taxes and no billing information. He may have found someone to pay him that way. Construction folks do it all the time.

You absolutely have to have his social security number to start. If you don't have that, you can't do much. If you DO have it, I would suggest spending $9.95 (or more) on a "people/background" search through one of the many online resources that does this. IF he is working on the books, the search should be able to find him. If he's working off the books, forget it - he's fixed it so that even if you DID locate his place of employment, you cannot prove he is actually employed there.

Child support enforcement DOES work very slowly. Been there, done that. Even though you may not want to, I suggest making a real pain in the a** out of yourself and calling them at LEAST once a week. It's the only way to get them to move on something. You can make sure they suspend his driver's license when they are supposed to, etc.

If absolutely necessary, open up a case with public assistance. The State will help support your kids when the non-custodial parent isn't paying support. THEY will go after him with a lot more gusto than CSE, and when THEY find him, they will apply a lot more pressure for him to reimburse THEM for doing what HE was supposed to do. They will seize his income tax refund and eventually, he will be notified that, unless he pays, he will be found in contempt of court and face more fines and even possible jail time.

Anybody who doesn't think that you have every right to use every tool in the box has never been down this road before. Do whatever you have to do to get what is due your kids. Be polite but assertive, and do not back down. Good luck, sweetie.

if you know his social security number have you tried calling the IRS? you may have to hire an atty to do so but most ttys give free consults, wouldnt hurt to ask their oppinion on the matter. Not sure if the IRS will tell you or not if you call . Also hasnt the Child Support Enforcement worker put into effect an IRS stop on his income? Meaning if he is working and paying taxes they will automatically withhold his tax return both state and federal for back support. It might not be much but thats a way to find out where he is working.

You could look online (try "find anyone, anywhere" or "netdetectives") and pay $40-70 for a code that grants you access to phone listings, addresses, etc. Whatever you find out, make sure to keep cs enforcement posted with any info you find out.

You get more results with sugar than vinegar. If you just want his money and not him as a father for your children, he should not have to pay.
