Happy Halloween! That being said, let's go with a scientific definition of both. Zombies are said to be re-animated corpses. Realistically, in both Voodoo and Santeria, a drug such as blow fish poison is administered to make the victim "appear" dead for all intents and purposes. Other drugs could be administered keeping them in a trance like state while they are moving. They aren't really dead, but usually don't survive this ritual. Mummies are dehydrated bodies whose organs have been removed and whose sarcophagus usually holds 'the book of the dead' or a spell to reanimate the body. They aren't believed to come back to life in our time to wreak havoc. So no, Mummies aren't gift wrapped Zombies, but I love the phrasing of the question!

I don't think that Mummies are dried up, well dressed Zombies. For on Mummies are eihter protectores of tombs or cursed to never rest. The only organs I have heard of a Mummie wanting is his/her own to regain a whole physical body to see the curse through and exact revenge. That and thought they exist you never hear about them coming to life.

Zombies on the other hand are wet, rotting creatures in horror movie lore. They live only to eat the flesh of the living. They have no other reason to live.

Zombies unlike living Mummies do exist. In Voodoo, they are people who have been druged into a comma. Their families then burry them. Later at night the Witch doctor or voodoo preist/ess digs them up and sells them as slaves. People have excaped from plantations in the Caribbean where it is said to be widly praticed. There have been movies and books writen on the subject too.

Movie Zombies come to life or turn into them because of some horrible medical virus or secreat lab that has an accident and the disease is spread that turns men, women, and animal alike into fleash eating monsters or causes the dead to rise when it gets into the soil system. I have heard of one movie where it was caused by a medorite that crashed to earth and caused them to come back to life.

Mummies are most remmembered when we speak of the Ancient Egyptians. Basicly they are important dead people who are sun dried like a rasin. They would take out all the organs, and dry them too. Then they would put the heart back in, carve a golden tomb, and wrap the body in silky tissue, then bury the body in the tomb with a few jewls and, maybe, a few servents.

Mummies are deemed more powerful than Zombies. Ah, Zombies are like 'Pons' (Chess) ... they're used to get sacrificed faster.

What's funnier than a zombie?

A zombie baby.

Yeah, they cost twice as much, and move with half the speed.
But they're good for keeping the house clean, and stay together longer.
