Several times a day I find myself discussing different things, with myself. I'll be talking out loud & be having a real conversation (arguing with myself sometimes). When I realize I'm doing it I stop, but it happens all the time. Is this regular? (I even found myself having a discussion with myself about asking about this on here).

While it may not be "normal" it would be very difficult to say that it is abnormal because way too many people do the same thing.

I do this a lot myself - if for no other reason than to get intelligent feedback from myself on some of my thoughts!

I used to Practice Law and spent much time talking to myself on the "talks I would be planning on giving the Judges and Juries in the various cases I was involved in - just to "hear" how the talk or argument actually sounded before I presented it to them.

No- it's the first sign of madness- do you give yourself feedback. Try talking to other humans that will help you stop discussing things with yourself. It normal to have thoughs and ideas and utter them out from time to time but not to discuss it with yourself.

Yes, but it's annoying to those around you. What you have to find is a solution to doing this out loud. Practice, I guess. Talk to yourself silently. Maybe chew gum, don't know if that would make talking out loud more difficult. Ask a friend to pinch you everytime you talk out loud.

It is only abnormal if you begin losing the arguments... just kidding.

Some people who are auditory learners may tend to do this because it helps them process and understand the ideas better that are floating around in their heads. It is not very socially acceptable though so be careful who hears you doing it unless you would like to gain some very interesting nicknames!

As long as it is intelligent conversation, there is nothing wrong with it. It's an excellent way to work out problems.

I do it all the time. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. When you spend so much time alone as I do, it is difficult to go around silent.

I think we all do it to some extent but it sounds like you've taken it to an extreme. Good luck to both of you.
