It was in a junior game. The home team was on the PK and had posession in the corner, he turned around and fired the puck in an attempt to ice it and get the change (you were alowed to change then). The shot was on the net and I don't know what the goalie was thinking/doing, but the puck went in the net! That's right they scored a goal from behind the other teams goal line! Funniest thing I ever saw!

Now that is funny. Great reflexes. lol

I have a couple. Every once in a while there will be a dump and shoot with a bad bounce. The puck is shot in from the blue-line going around the boards and the goalie races behind his net to get it. Usually, an odd bounce the puck ends up heading toward the net instead. The puck usually trickles in with a dumbfounded goalie watching it from behind the net. A standard play for him just a freak situation, but boy does he look stupid.

The other one was Edmonton vs Calgary in the 86 Play offs. It was a very tight series. Game 7, tied 2-2. Edmonton defense Steve Smith is behind his own net waiting for his players to set up. He starts to take the puck out, and banks it off his own goalie Grant Fuhr for the game winning goal. The guy could have shot himself. Calgary went all the way to the final after that and lost to Montreal.

A couple years later I went to playoffs against the Oilers in Vancouver. They had a habit of spending too much time behind their own net with the puck. The crowd start chanting "SHOOT! SHOOT!" each time. It really got to them. lol

I had a hockey game and the goalie was mad the whole game because we kept scoring on him (9-2). There was 8.6 seconds left on the clock and I just scored. So, then we were at the faceoff circle and our center won the faceoff and took the puck on net and there was a rebound like 5 ft away from the net on the goal line and I picked up the puck and took a shot on net and the goalie thought the game was over so he threw his hand back cause he was mad and knocked the puck in. So, i scored with 1 second left. Fastest two goals I ever scored in my life.

This story is true.

Yup. That one that you posted was pretty funny... It looked like the guy forgot where he was for a minute. Nice pass though...

Do you remember when the Ducks were in the finals against New Jersey? It was like game 1 or 2 or something like that.

The puck was trickling in towards Martin Brodeur, who skated out to play the puck. But, for some reason, he dropped his stick!? Then the puck, which was going way wide of the net, hit his stick, which he had just dropped, at a perfect angle making the puck go right in between Brodeur's legs and in the net!!

That was a weird goal for sure. And it was funny too because Brodeur is one of the best goalies of all time. It just goes to show you that we can all make mistakes!

It was the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Vancouver Canucks years ago. I can't remember who the goalie for Vancouver was but a forward for Toronto shot the puck from the center line and the goalie was screened by his own players. The puck went in the net and the goalie had no idea it was in there. He stood looking confused for about 6 seconds and one of his players had to point to the puck. He turned around and his body language said it all. Very funny to see.

the one i remember was from a flames-oilers game about 15 years ago. brad mccrimmon was dumping the puck for a line change, so the goalie started skating to the corner to play it. the puck caromed wildly off a seam in the boards, just inside the blue line, and nobody was in a position to do anything but watch it slide into the net

and some further bizarre facts about that steve smith own goal on grant fuhr in the '86 playoffs:
1) it was smith's 23rd birthday
2) perry berezan, who was credited for the goal, was sitting on the bench
3) berezan is an edmonton native
4) both smith and fuhr ended their careers playing for the flames

I forget the year, but it was back in the Oilers dynasty years in the 80's. Wayne Gretzky was behind the opponents net as usual. When he could not find an open man to pass to he improvised and flipped it over the net and banked it in off Dave Semenko's head. Very cool shot.

Bob Essensa batting the puck into his own net as a Winnipeg Jet in the playoffs against the Canucks. He was trying to pass it behind the net and kinda missed.. smart...

I gotta say in collegiate hockey when the gophers were playing a team and the person playing against the gophers picked it up on his stick and lifted it in to the goal. Cheap goal but funny too.
