I love Bonfire Night (Nov 5th) and I really want to go to a display this year - I've begged by BF (a barman) to get the night off so we can go to one.
Trouble is I'll be 36 weeks pregnant (with my first child) on Nov 5th and BF refuses to take me to a display as he says he's worried all the noise, excitement, loud bangs, standing outside in the cold for hours etc might send me into labour.
Is he overreacting?

Well he hasn't "refused" really I mean he isn't happy about it - he desn't mind taking me and he's already booked the night off - he's just really worried it might hurt me or the baby in some way - seriously I'm not allowed to breathe at the moment without him saying "are you sure you're ok"!, "has the baby moved today", "how are you feeling?" "you'd better sit down". I'm putting it down to first time fatger's nerves!

I went to a fourth of july (due in september at the time), and saw fireworks. the only thing that happened was my baby punched my belly like crazy! He turned out perfectly healthy- 9lbs 10oz healthy! And, we went this 4th of July (he was maybe 9 months old) and he just loved it! Go- you should be fine. It didn't send me into labor- plus, being your first you have a long labor ahead- mine was 19hrs plus a c-section after all that. goodluck! Have fun while you can!

That's very sweet for him to be concerned, unless he's planning to go somewhere without you. I've seen fireworks with all three pregnancies and there was no problem, also went to car races which were much louder. The baby's ears are safe from things that aren't too close, just think when you're under water. Bring a blanket and sit in the vehicle if you can for some time. The major danger of a fireworks display that would have anything to do with being pregnant, and not just the usual dangers of being hit by fireworks, is if there were a major catastrophe and you needed to run quickly.
So, is your boyfriend just stressed out or tired? It is a lot for a caring man to deal with when his gf is pregnant.
You may end up having to chock it up to being the girlfriend of a barman.

You might get tired and cold so make sure you wrap up warm, you don't want a chill.
But, otherwise, no real reason why it might send you into labour. Unless you are frightened by such noises (doesn't sound like it!) there's no reason it would raise your heart rate or blood pressure by enough to cause a problem.
Also, at 36 weeks pregnant you are term. So it wouldn't matter if anything were to kick start your labour, baby would be absolutely fine.
Go and have fun! Last chance you'll get for a while.

Yes it think he is being a little overprotective. My best friend went to the 4th of July fireworks, due on July 12 and had the baby on July 16. I might bring a chair but otherwise go and have fun. After you have the baby going out will be a little harder. Have fun.

Theres no problem at all with you going to a firework display being heavily pregnant, as long as you wrap up warm. The noise will probably make your baby kick. When i went out once while heavily pregnant, there was really loud music, and my baby kicked all night!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its just the loud noise, there would be no medical implications at all.

Don't worry about the noise affecting the baby.
Personally I would be more worried about the cold and standing for too long. At 36 weeks you are very prone to puffy ankles etc.
Good luck.

yes you will be fine, i went last year when i was around the same weeks pregant. the baby may jump when the loud bangs go off. which made me jump a little as i wasnt expecting it. lol
Make sure you wrap up warm and if possible take a fold up chair with you, so you can sit down...
Good luck! I hope you get to go. there so much fun......

Yeah - sounds like he doesn't wanna stand outside in the cold with all the noise - or maybe he just doesn't want to take the night off!

yeah actual effective. I used to rigidity approximately this whilst i became pregnant final year yet did no harm in any respect. the toddler did kick greater yet purely cos its a loudee sound than its used to. I heavily did hassle that it would certainly misery the toddler yet bear in mind additionally that each and one and all sounds are very muffled via each and all of the fluid and your muscle groups/organs etc so would be effective. Congratulations and that i do no longer think of your stupid to rigidity in any respect....merely care approximately your little toddler and whats the harm in that! savor those fireworks!
