I m watching him now on "Metal Evolution" on VH1 CL He says he used to watch opera and was mesmirized by the power of the singers, but never said anything about himself training in opera. On a sad note, I saw him performing at a festival inEnglandd (on tv) and he can t sing very well any more.

You may be thinking of Tony Harnell from TNT , he was formally trained. Halford may have had some too, not sure.
