It is some newly discovered astronomical object, a star perhaps?

I've never heard of it. Perhaps it is a recently discovered asteroid. Stars are not named - the only stars that have names (as opposed to numerical designations) are the ones that were named hundreds if not thousands of years ago (like Sirius, Polaris, Pollux, Rigel, etc.)
