I had a pap smear come back with the results of having abnormal cells to the cervix. Then about 3wks ago i had a cervical biopsy done and was told that i had servere dysplasia. That my cervical cells were so abonormal. What does this mean? Do i have cancer and they did not want to tell me over the phone so i would not worry. Which i am, and so is my boyfriend. We cried together last night fear of me having cancer and the worse happen. The nurse at the clinic said that they are going to make an appointment with a specialist as soon as i get my financial papers in the mail. Which i received today and have to wait until MOnday being that the offices are closed on the weekend. Ahh. I dont know what to think. I am so stressed out and depressed.

Dysplasia means you have abnormal cells on your cervix which can lead to cervical cancer if not treated. It is commonly caused by a std called hpv and it is usually treatable. There are certain grades of dysplasia did they mention which grade you have? I have had to have a leep and also a cone biopsy done two years apart and please rest assured that once they do both of those exams then the chances of it coming back are suppose to be very very low. It is a very common condition affecting a lot of women but now that you are playing the waiting game just try and keep yourself very busy for the next few days, try and focus on anything but cancer enjoy these few days with a light heart if possible. It is excellent you have the support of you boyfriend and it might help to not think of the worst possible scenario. I can imagine if they thought you had cancer they would order bloodwork to check your cell count level, or run other tests if they found it to be so severe. This is common and they will need to operate but I dont think it means 100% you have cancer at all. Also on another note, I had the leep and the cone biospy which are two seperate operations and my cervix was long and normal and healthy, so just so your not afraid you probably will be able to have a normal healthy pregnancy in time.

Alright-first off, assuming you are an adult, no respectable doctor would conceal the truth of your medical condition from you so as not to upset you.

Now this is a very scary result (I had an abnormal pap smear early this year and had delightful neurotic hysterics for days), but your prognosis is excellent. Severe dysplasia is a precancerous condition, but that is not the same as saying "First I get dysplasia, then I get cancer." If it is treated the cells almost never become cancerous. The treatments (see link at bottom) are simple, done on an outpatient basis, and will not endanger your health or your fertility. You are doing exactly the right thing by seeking medical treatment quickly. Best of luck!

I know this is a very scary time for you, but believe me severe dysplasia is NOT cancer, it is classified as CIN III, (Cervical Intraepethelial Neoplasia, grade 3) and it is PRE-cancerous. However, it is the stage right before invasive cervical cancer so it does need treatment.

I don't believe a doctor would hold the truth from you about your biopsies results. CIN III is very common as it is usually caused from HPV and it can be easily treated with a LEEP or conization. The reason you will need to see a specialist is so they can make sure that the dysplasia has not spread any further and so you can receive treatment so it does not turn into cancer.

I had CIN III years ago and I was treated with a conization. I have been fine since :)

I had the same thing happen to me. They scheduled a LEEP procedure in which they scrap all the bad cells away. I had it on my cervix and on my uterus. It was scary to think that these cells were severe. I was on the Patch birth control and estrogen makes bad cells grow and spread. I had to go every 6 months to get pap to make sure they dont come back. He told me I possibly got it from my boyfriend who is a carrier of hpv. Which my body couldnt fight off on its own. Some people have HPV and do not know it because it doesnt do anythign to men and the only way you know you have bad cells is through a pap. Hope this helps. The quicker you get this doen the better you will feel. Trust me! I have been all good since then aand that was 2 years ago. They also said that if i were to get pregnant that i might not be able to hold the baby in long enough and miscarry. I had a healthy baby boy 10 weeks ago. SO good luck!

What you have can carry approximately cervical maximum cancers no count if it is not checked. Your professional could have the potential to reply to any and all questions you have. Take your boyfriend or a chum with you, they could have the potential to bear in mind stuff which you forget approximately. attempt to no longer tension lots...i realize it is greater common reported than performed. yet seem at it this way, stressing approximately it won't make it go away, it will in basic terms shop you up nights nerve-racking. solid luck and God Bless!!
