There are quite a few agencies around.
Some are free to join, some not.
It's not illegal for agencies to charge for membership but some just take your money and you never hear from them again.
You'll need a head and shoulders shot and they ask for your measurements.
I did this sort of thing before training as an actor and I learned more from this than I did in college.
As another poster states, it can be a long day but rather than sit in the green room and whinge, I spoke to people on set (when it was OK to do so) and learned the business.
I also met some nice people.
These days I run a successful production company so it obviously didn't harm me.
You COULD also approach universities and colleges who make films but these would not be paying propositions.
There's loads of student films that get made annually and some go the festival route then on to TV.
If you end up doing these, ask for a copy of the piece when it's done.
A colleague did forty of these things in a year in Scotland.
It almost drove him mad such was the disorganisation of most projects but he's now a successful TV actor mostly doing comedy.
Hope this is of help.

an inning is chop up into halves. the authentic of the inning is while the away team bats. the backside of an inning is while the homestead team bats. the homestead team continually get to bat final. greater innings: baseball video games can no longer bring about a tie. on the tip of 9 innings a interest is tied. the communities shop enjoying till somebody breaks the tie. say the sport is 5 to 5 on the tip of the 9th inning. Come the authentic of the 10th inning (visitors are as much as bat) and that they score a run. the sport now will become 6-5. the homestead team nevertheless has a great gamble to the two even up the score or over come the deficit and pull off a win. if on the backside of the 10th the homestead team would not score, the score remains 6-5 visitors, so the sport is over. if the homestead team ties, the score is tied back so it is 6-6, they proceed enjoying. if the homestead team overcomes the deficit and wins the score is now 6-7+ and the sport is over via fact the homestead team pulled off the win and had their final at bats. short 9th- they do no longer decide for to waste time and skill. if the visitors are dropping on the ruin of an inning, it is now the homestead communities turn to bat. if the visitors are dropping meaning the homestead team is triumphing. there is not any could desire to maintain absolutely everyone on the sport longer via fact the homestead team has already gained, and a win is a win, no count the score. there would not could desire to be an overkill. the decrease of innings is 9. there are exceptions the place there's a tie.

You can also look on ukscreen.com, mandy.com, and talentcircle.com, all have good UK based sections... In UKscreen you can also look at the directory for companies..
But whatever you do, dont fork out money upfront to sign to an agency!
I run a small theatre company and its suprising how in the past 2 months we have been contacted by the BBC three times looking for people for TV and radio projects. Thier researchers have a look online you see, and find websites of local places they may be able to source actors. So it may be work getting in with a local theatre conpany as well, and see what contacts come through. When I was at University I got a role on Sky TV in exactly that way.

You already know - best thing is to find an agency in your local area - the amount of work depends on the amount of films and television being made in your area. Being an extra is incredibly boring and you have to sit about for hours and not do much. If you get work take a book/newspaper - anything to keep yourself occupied. Pay is pretty crap as well. Also - so you know - the industry term is 'supporting artist'.

If you live in a city where movies are frequently filmed, the search for movie Extras is usually listed in the newspapers, in the movie/theater section, or announed on local tv news programs.
Some cities have a: Mayor's Office of Film Theatre & Broadcasting. The name may be different in cities around the country. Call the Mayor's office and ask how you can find out if and when when movies and tv shows are filmed in your city.

do a course. In that course you will get advice on how to do such things. You also could just walk into a BBC studio and ask for a job!!!
