As far as deceit and unkept promises, both parties are about neck and neck. In propaganda republicans have the lead and in hopeless ideals democrats are ahead. There are so many headlines and interviews where politicians speak about how important something is and how they vow to change it, then theres never anything else spoken of it since. And apparently no change either. All in all I would have to say Republicans and Democrats are both equally incompetent and unsuitable for the leadership of this great nation. What do you think?

I agree that the main beneficiaries of politics are the politicians.

I think it's essential to boil the issues down to the basics of taxation. Take all the propaganda away and look at taxes. Do you want to pay more? Vote democrat.

I voted for both Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan and I wouldn't vote for anyone in this administration or for anyone in the leadership of the senate or house. The Republican party is now rotten to the core. I'll bet Nixon and Reagan are both spinning in their graves. The Democrats are still a party of idealists as you said. That doesn't make them right but I feel better voting for an idealist who's wrong sometimes than a party follower who won't think for themself.

I agree that in the US, both parties are equally incompetent and unsuitable. The 2-party system has a lot of flaws. For example, the election candidates, knowing that there are basically only 2 choices for the American people, are more movtivated to run negative campaigns against the candidate of the opposing party. "Parties in such situations tend to stake out only those positions that appear necessary to differentiate themselves from their primary opponent, and not to concentrate on policies constructive or beneficial to citizens."
