When I was little I was always excited about trying new things but as an adult I dread the idea (?!). How can I find enjoyment in order to seek out new adventures?

Start with something that is a little bit familiar but is not something that you would ordinarily do. For example, if you usually go to movies, try a live theater performance. If you usually go to a regular city park, try a wilderness area with hiking trails.

Work up to things slowly. Give yourself time. But part of growing older is the "been there, done that" syndrome. Not everybody can afford to take vacations to exotic places, so most of us tend to lead pretty routine and humdrum lives.

The most important thing is to keep trying. Not necessarily every day or even every week, but maybe once a month find something new to do. Check local newspapers or the internet for things going on in your area like art festivals, charity runs, whatever you're interested in.

Good luck!

Its the scare of failure that pulls one back from new adventures as an adult. So, if you want to seek enjoyment from doing new things, just explore without thinking of the consequences.

I used to have that problem but now I don't.

Look at everything as a Huge challenge - and then try to overcome the challenge it presents!

Try freeing up your mind from stress & worry. TAKE YOUR TIME AND WHEN YOU ARE READY... step out of the box! Never be so set in your ways to be afraid of change. it makes you old, old foogies are like that.
