Alright, well I tried to get people to explain why they think that the palestinians are a bunch of religious nuts with no real grievances and that their fighting with Israel is purely religiously motivated. My question was brushed aside by most on the grounds that Aljazeera was a biased source.

Well, personally I don't believe that Aljazeera is a biased source, but let's take some different sources:
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3308494,00.html
Admittedly, it's not as dramatic as listing all the deaths of palestinians at the hands of Israeli forces for the past two months, but it still describes the actions of Israel in Gaza as "Ethnic Cleansing".
So I ask again, why do these things not matter? And why do you think that the Palestinians are just preying on those poor helpless Israelis?

One: I don't hate "the Jews", I hate Israel. Most Jews don't even live in Israel... I think Jews are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I've met a lot of nice Germanic people too, but when either of those groups starts commiting mass murder, I'm against it.
I mean, you can call me anti-semetic for being against Jewish people commiting mass murder in Gaza, but I dare say that that assessment is wrong...
And Two: If you can't spell the word "Palestinian", please do not answer...

OK, my opinion is that Israel has no right to exist. After WWII Britain kicked all the Palestinians out and gave their land to Jewish people. Then the USA gave them Weapons.
I think its really evil personally. I do not however like that they use suicide bombing as weapons, and target civilians. The Children of Israel are not responsible for the injustice of the past.
Palestine needs to either fight and settle it, or move on. If we could make organized religion go away this world would be a wonderful place to live... but there's no time for rational solutions.

The Palestians are angry and fighting over a century of genocide against their people in which the Israel government is the chief offender. But because they are Muslim (primarily) they have no right to oppose these atrocities.
Palestine was given to Israel by the British and the US after WWII. Ever since then, there has been a huge push to exterminate the Palenstinians. Other Arab countries are aware of this so that many of them do not like Israel. However, with US guns and dollars, the Israelis, like bully toddlers with bombs and rich parents, have abused their neighbors and are always asking the US for more money.
Ethnic Cleansing is an objective. The Israelis should not be given another cent of American taxpayer money until they are held accountable for the atrocities and theft of land. Palestinians and Arabs are today's American Indians.

I don't believe Ynetnews is a unbiased source, but I'll answer anyway.
Palestinians do have legitamite reasons to dislike the Isreali Govt. but the support of terrorist organizations that kill innocent people is unacceptable. Isrealis aren't poor or helpless, they have a Army Palestine dosen't.
Many Isreali's don't support the decisions of their govt. in treating Palestinians like second class people who don't have any rights. There is a Doc that I saw a couple of years ago about Palestinian children, and Isreali children getting together and building friendships. It worked for a small time, but eventually the influences from their seperate environments got in the way.

i think in this day and world we seem to nitpick and dissect situations instead of going back to the root of our problems. why cant there be worldwide acceptance of each other no matter what race or beliefs we belong to, anti jew anti nazi, how about anti racism? racism is unacceptable, i have just met my neighbours, thay are indian and have been living across from me for four months, and i have just spoken to them this week! and you know what, they sound more scottish than me! i was ashamed that i had not made any effort to welcome this family into my community, however, they feel that they must keep themselves to themselves as this is a predominant white community, its a disgrace, and i feel terrible. its a community and thats it! we shouldnt be disssecting each belief or religion looking for whos right or wrong, we should be accepting each other for what we are

Their fight with Israel is not religious neither do they have a reason as the majority do not even have history in the region beyond 30 years ago.
Didn't the Palestinians start this crap themselves?

These things do matter, they affect us indirectly in our daily lives. I think this is probably not the place to air my views on one side or the other, as it could be read as being racist...whichever side I support.
