Actually yes, though the reasoning behind this can be a stretch for some people.
When you develop a relationship with someone, you not only become very close, but there is something else that is "created" between the two of you. If you were to look into the "bioelectric field" (which used to be called the aura, but now has scientific evidence backing it) you would see that when two people interact their biofields interact as well.
When you fall in love with someone a strong bond is formed between the two of you, and as time goes on there is actually a "third field" created, that represents your relationship.
The longer you are with someone and the more you interact with them, the stronger this connection becomes (especially after you make love together. Not just sex, but making love). This connection can create psychic thoughts where you know exactly what the other person is feeling at any given time.
It is especially weird when you can feel them being angry, sad, or hurt and they are ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Then it gets really woo-woo. My fiancee and I have been together for over a year now and we often think the same thing at the same time, I can always tell when I need to give her some lovin', and she can always feel when I am frustrated.
To me this signals an evolution of humanity. Eventually as these "other senses" are more understood and talked about, people will never be able to lie, cheat, or steal. Have you seen movies where a guy cheats, and SOMEHOW his woman finds out? This is this principle at work. Even though she wasn't there to see it or know it, on some level she knew because their relationship was so strong.
Personally I think it is great. I just know that I can't lie to my fiancee, because she can always tell. Anyone who believes they have to lie to keep a relationship working is a moron, and deserves whatever drama they create.
I hope this long and rather intriguing answer gives you some insight. Good luck with your relationship!

It's called empathy. However, you know a fraction of what they are going through. If you've never know what it's like to have a coworker stab in the back and then have a boss fire you, you really can't feel what that person is feeling.
And for the record, you don't have to be extremely close with someone to feel that. How many mothers can feel the pain of the mothers of missing and kidnapped children? How many people can feel the anger when someone steals their identity?

Depends on if you focus about the situation, If you do then yes you can feel their emotions, just like if a man and a woman were having a kid, and they were really close, when the woman got sick or anything the man would feel what the woman was feeling.

It is not your imagination. I love all of my friends to death and I can always tell what they are feeling. Plus, shouldn't you feel if it's just your imagination? If you think they are angry but they have a ear-to-ear smile, you might be imagining things.

If you know someone really well and learn all there emotions, yes you will be able to sense what mood they are in. Just by facial expressions etc.

It's true plus you know what the other is thinking before they even think it...You develop a kind of telepathy with the individual.
