Dubai's local educational system is followed only by arabs(UAE nationals) , most expats here follow the GCSE(Brit system) or CBSE(indian system) or american system.

As far as higher education is concerned,again there are universities from around the world,following the systems in their home country.

I am from BITS,Pilani ; thats like the MIT of india. We have alot critical thinking exercises,but not as much as one from the US would expect.
Infact our academic system(books,methods-to an extent) is very similar to MIT's...

For Middle School and High School, a fair amount of current events stuff (considering the UAE's location, it is appropriate) and responding to modern problems with your opinions. Not too much book learning...

At least at ACS. I can't speak for the British School and any other schools.

i'm a hs student so i know alot about the hs aspect of it since im in the middle of it. much like a private school in the US. they do, as has already been mentioned, have british system schools, as well as indian and a few others i think. msg/email me if you want more details
