If the book is What to Expect When You are Expecting don't bother. I had to stop reading it because I was worried that even the air I was breathing was going to give my baby a birth defect. Ask your doctor once your pregnant. Start taking folic acid now, it can help to prevent some birth defects if you have high levels before you get pregnant.

to try and make u see how ur life is going to b after u have a baby . unfortunately a book can never take the place of experience and believe me when i say it is not gonna be all laughter and roses by any stretch of the imagination. u don't say how old u r but if u haven't gotten pregnant yet , get back on the pill until u know in which direction ur life is gonna take u. i forgot to mention that once u have the baby, ur life will NO LONGER b ur own. good luck.

That particular book is not so important. I prefer "The Baby Book" by Dr. William Sears.
What is important is to know a bit about pregnancy and babies before you go having them!

If you don't have any experience or particularly strong role models of parenting, then books are a good place to start. You need to know what you are getting into!!!

Birthing classes, babycare classes and parenting classes are also a good idea because they can help you form a community of other parents that you can connect with as you go through these experiences together.

did you mean what to expect when your expecting or what to expect the first year? Both are by the same author and are great books. They help with questions or concerns that you will have during pregnancy or the first year of your baby's life. I highly recommend them. They are quite helpful. You will find answers to just about everything you may want to know if those questions you are too embarrassed to answer. The books will take you through a step by step of what it's like every month in pregnancy or during the first year. Enjoy them!
