"Rockstar" was loosely based on the story of Jesse "the ripper" Owens and how he replaced Rob Halford in Judas Priest, and how they plucked Jesse out of a JP cover act.

I don't know much about "Rock Star" but, "Almost Famous" was written and directed by Cameron Crowe. It was based on himself as a teenage writer for Cream magazine and Rolling Stone back in the 70's and the band that he was covering.

Nope. Almost famous is loosely based on the writers experiences writing about rock bands. I'd safely bet the "deflowering" scene is loosely based on his biggest fantasy.
