We've spent maybe a couple hundred bucks on this second baby. You can save a lot of money by using cloth diapers, breastfeeding, and using hand-me-down clothes (other families gave me a lot of clothes so I didn't really spend much on my first baby either). You don't really need a lot of gear, though some of it is nice. I like a sling, a stroller, a high chair, and a carseat, but everything else I could take it or leave it. I don't use a crib or a lot of toys in the first year so really it's not that expensive. It just depends on where you want to spend your money and how much you want to spend. Babies don't technically need anything we buy for them. They just need cuddly arms and a nice milky breast. Heck, they don't even really need diapers-- in China no baby wears diapers!

it depends.
I am a new mom and our costs have been very low. We were fortunate to have a baby shower and lots of hand me downs.
I breastfeed my son (he is 10 1/2 months) and he has never had formula so we have not had to deal with the costs of formula. Formula can be very, very expensive depending if your baby needs a specialized formula.
Diapers, wipes we buy in bulk to save money.
The only baby food we really bought was the cereal or sometimes I will buy a few jars just in case we go out and there is not anything my son can eat. The rest I make. If you have a blender you can make baby food. It saves a lot of money!!!
I would recommend to sign up for coupons at Gerber, pampers, huggies etc.
Doctor visits can also add up. If you breastfeed, your baby will not get sick as often as a formula fed baby (in most cases).
Stay at home vs working also is something to think about. In our case my paycheck would have been eaten up by gas, daycare and possibly more doctor visits for a sick baby (sometimes daycare can contribute more to a baby being sick due to being around other sick children).
Furniture and toys you can buy already used for a fraction of the price. We use an old buffet for a changing table. We were given a second hand crib and a lot of my son's toys are hand me downs. It is really funny because when they reach a certain age they are amuzed by cups, measuring spoons, boxes etc..Pretty much anything that is not a toy!! Ha Ha!!
There is a lot to think about and consider with a new baby.
Hope this helps!

Lets start with the maternity leave, you may not get your whole salary. Disposable nappies, bargain for at least 8 a day. It becomes less as they grow older. If you are going to breastfeed there is no formula expense, but if not it is for the actual formula powder, the bottles (at least 10) and the sterilizing unit. A breast pump if you are going to breastfeed. A cot for the baby as well as a mattress and the necessary bedding. Clothes for baby for all ages. A car seat and toys. There is other expenses that is not necessary like baby monitors and prams. You also have to budget for daycare if you are a working mother. The creams, lotions and shampoo is not expensive and usually lasts a long time and I wouldn't consider it a big expense. It is also not necessary to bye a baby bath (although they are fairly cheap) but it is necessary to bye a bath mat so that you child doesn't fall in the bath

It depends on what you buy....A crib can be $100-$500. Then there are diapers you can say that that is anywhere form $40 to $60 dollars a months. If you dont breastfeed you will have to buy formal which is like $80 a months, Then there are ceral and baby food, bottles, cups, snacks, juice, milk...Say another $120 a month, Then there is the doctor visits, and the bill from being born and if the baby had to dtay in the hospital (my bill from the hospital alone was $56,798.67) Say another $100 a month, then there are clothes and babys need alot of them cause they grow so fast say$50 a month, then there are toys, blankets, soap to wash their clothes in, baby wipes, a car seat, then a booster seat for when they reach 30 lbs. medicans, and that is not all, that is what you will have to have. So for the first year say ALOT......

Probably a few thousand dollars. There are a lot of expenses for a baby. Diapers, formula, clothes, doctor bills, baby food once the baby starts to eat solids.

If you are not counting the Dr. and Hospital bill for having the kid, then your biggest expenses will be diapers, formula, (if you are not breastfeeding) Dr. visits for shots (if you do not have insurance)baby food, any clothes that you did not get at baby shower, and did I mention diapers, diapers, diapers....after the first month, you will go through several packages of diapers in a week.

I really cant answer this one it's different really because lets see for instance sometimes boys clothes are cheaper then girls (trust me buying for both my neice n nephews I've learned alot lol) but I can tell you as an AUNT buying for 2 kids in the first year (not counting buying toys and gifts) (but counting diapers and helping w/food and clothes) on average I spent 5000 dollars on two kids the first year of their life but I do know the parents have paid more :) so hope that helps

it varies from family to family. it all depends on how much u actually have to buy and how much is given to u. i know somewhere there is a chart that tells u but they never take in all the variables like extra dr. appt. extra diapers , medicine and having to try more than one formula. let's just say it ain't cheap.
