A free gift is just that. However, depends on the individual giving the gift. While they meant for the gift to be free there are strings attached down the road.

Of course all gifts are free but when mentioned as a Free-Bee in something some one is selling it's just a gimmic to scam you for your money. Even Freedom isn't free. We have to fight to keep it.
