I see something like a long and curled strand of hair in front of my eyes, about 6 inches away, but in reality its non existent. And it moves as I move my eyes. Is something serious?

No nothing serious, just annoying, they are called Floaters, everyone has them, sometimes they are worse than at other times. Usually appear sort of clear, outlined in dark to black color. Sometimes if you rinse your eyes with warm water, or put something like clear eyes drops into your eyes, this help help decrease the occurrence. But your fine, don't worry, be happy. Thanks for the opportunity to address your question.

The apparition you are seeing may be due to deterioration of the cells in your cornea or a lack of oxygen flowing to your eyes. What you are not seeing looks like a long dark hair is the portion where your brain is not receiving optical information from those cells. I hate to tell you this but it is a sign of aging, as we grow our eyes lose and then rebuild the cells in our eyes. This is a normal lifelong process. Unfortuantely for some of us this cellular rebuilding process slows down as we age. The long hair will change, grow or diminish over time. There maybe nothing wrong with your eyes. Ask yourself this: does the long hair disappear when you focus far away? If so then your eyes are fine, aside from maybe needing corrective lens. If not then you may have an artificial obstruction in your eye. If that is the case you should be able to feel it with your eyelid. You may also be experiencing macular degeneration a disease that deteriorates the eye. If this is true you should seek advice from your optrician or turn to herbal solutions like Ocular Defense Formula by Herbalife. I see more than one hair in my close up vision and wear corrective lens too. I also drive high speed winning race-cars. So my long distance vision is important to me. Seeing hairs in front of your eyes at a short distance may or may not constitute serious changes to your lifestyle or pocket book. As long as your overall vision meets your expectations. Rest assurred that everybody sometime in their lifetime will see stars or hairs in their vision. The eye is one of the most renewed organs in he body. With proper care and nutrition your eyes will last you a lifetime.

it's best to go to an opthamologist to find out, because what you're describing can be a few things. it may be a protein deposit on the surface of your eye, which is similar to having a cataract blur your vision. usually it's cleared up by drops, but that's only if it's what's truly wrong. the dr is your best bet! organs of any kind are hard to replace....

It could be. You need to get to your eye doctor and have it checked out as soon as possible. It could be a number of things. One possibility is a migraine in your eye. It is not like a migraine that causes a headache. My husband gets them and his eye doctor told them that staring at a TV or computer screen will cause it to flare up and he will see spots. Giving his eyes a break will cause it to go away but you really should get it checked out.

You are experiencing what is called "floaters" which usually are harmless. You need to get checked out by an eye doctor. Floaters are actually pin holes in the retinal muscle- I have them too. The important thing is to get it checked out, you can actually get a retinal detachment and then you would lose vision in your eye. I actually had laser surgery on both my eyes for "lattice work tears". I still have floaters.

no, its just the wet stuff on the surface of your eye. It happens to me too. You can close your eye and rub it for a few seconds and it might go away or you might get a new one.
