I know what you mean. People going out with a clone of themselves, where's the originality? The reason could probably be acception to a certain group of people or self-loathing yourself. People who has shaved heads hangs out with other shaved heads, and etc. Ps you're hot

This question is going to make a lot of people uncomfortable, but the gay community is in a little bit of denial about the truth behind its stereotypes. Saying that gay men don't pay too much attention to fashion and grooming is about as silly as saying that lesbians wear too many dresses.
Sometimes its OKAY to laugh at ourselves. Everybody gets so bent out of shape the minute somebody asks why lesbians look like men or why gay guys have lisps, well guess what, fellow queers? LOTS OF LESBIANS LOOK LIKE MEN AND LOTS OF GAY GUYS HAVE LISPS!
If you'll excuse me, I have to go teach a tennis lesson while wearing hiking boots.

I don't think you should try to single out gay men as a group- there are men as well as women in both the heterosexual and the homosexual community who are narcissistic. As for the example you gave, it's kind of like monkey see monkey do- they see a dude who looks cool and then they try to look like that too. Ahhh, attack of the clones for real!

I don't understand why that would be an issue. Is it any different than going to a leather bar and seeing most guys dressed in leather? In the 80s everybody wore plaid shirts and jeans (sort of the Village People look). The look that you have described is just the current popular look for the times.

Actually if you are going to use that as an example than really just about everyone is. People tend to befriend people of about the same level of attractiveness... it's proven scientific evidence. People like to go into familiar territory, and to feel welcomed for who they are. You tend to see black people going to a church with a good attendance of other black churchmembers and possibly a black reverend. You see straight men feeling more comfortable at a straight bar. You see students applying to colleges with reputations of large numbers of their ethnicity. You see clubs established for certain groups to make them feel more comfortable with joining a larger organization... Of course there are the few that break the mold. Is any wrong? Well I can only say for a good part many are unaware and this is a thought-process working on the most sub-conscious level, so likely not. Overall the gay group is likely to have a certain idea of who fits into their groupings so they are more likely to glide to that ideal, and befriend those who fit into it, but are no more to blame than other cultural groups that do the same (Think cheerleader complex).

That isn't Narcissistic. It does show a lack of imagination and perhaps being overly influenced by peer pressure, but not narcissistic. Why does it bother you?

well there are a lot of narcissistic gay men..yes, I'll grant you that...but narcissism comes with most 'types' of people..some women...some metrosexuals...it isn't exclusive to gay men.
