Yahoo has a good car website, as does Autobytel. I always find user reviews to be very helpful.

Not sure the name of the website but you can put in the vin code off the car into site and it will give a complete history on how many wrecks its been in/if any and also all insurance recordable work that's been done to the car. Most cars have the vin code located in the lower corner of the windshield on the drivers side.

I would check with Cosumer Reports or Carfax. Also National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.dot.gov.
