Don't get the shot. While it works great as a means of birth control when you come off of it there are some serious side effects and you may not ever be able to get pregnant again. If that is a risk you are willing to take--go for it! I'm not ever taking the shot again because after just one shot it took me three years to get my period back normally and a year and a half to conceive--which doctors were surprised about.
I feel the best methods are the IUD and the regular pill. I've heard only a few negative things about the IUD and of course missing a pill could inevitably end up in pregnancy. This is just my opinion--talk to you OB/GYN and she what he/she recommends. Best of luck and congratulations!!

This may be a question that you'll want to discuss with your doctor since there are things you'll want to consider:
Are you going to be breastfeeding? Are you looking for something you don't have to take everyday, such as the pill or worry about every time you and your husband are intimate like vaginal film, condoms, etc. I know my sister with an IUD after her second child. There are many options to choose from. You just need to decide what's right for you and your husband.

IUD I swear by this method I wish that this was the only was. Your not putting any hormones in your body. The IUD prevents an implantaion form occuring. You can't forget to take the medicine and you don't have to worry about all the side effects that there is for the pills.

I use the depo shot. You only have to get it every 3 months and you don't have periods with it. But you should still use a condom nothing is 100%. When I got off of the shot I had my little boy there were no side effects. The only thing they say is that you will gain weight, but I didn't even have that problem.

There are several different ones. The pill, the patch, IUD, vaginal ring. You just need to figure out with one would be easiest for you and the most comfortable. The pill, you need to remember to take it at the same time everyday but it's very effective. The patch you only have to switch once a month.

The pill failed me, the patch failed me. But it all depends on your body! We are going to be facing the same thing after our last one is born in April. Except for the side effect of weight gain, i would suggest the shot. Easy to do, and you don't have to remember to take it everyday. I was just leary of it because i thought i'd blow up like a balloon. But i know that doesn't happen to everyone. But i say go for the shot first!

My son is 13 months old, after he was born ond we got the ok I got the shot.....That is heaven sent. You get it every 3months and you dont have a period. You are less likely to get preg angin if you cant have a period, and when you decide to have another one you just dont get the shot and wait a few months for your hormons to level. Either that or I would talk to your doctor about an IUC.

After you have your baby, you can ask to be put on the 'mini pill', which is just like regular birth control except it's safe for women that are breast feeding.

Your doctor will go over all that with you... I got preggo on the birth control pills, so I'm always a little cautious now.

I really like the NuvaRing. It's a ring that you insert into your vagina once a month and leave it for 3 weeks. You then remove it for a week and have your period.
