The way it works at the Pachinko place I go to if you win when you go to the counter to trade in your Balls (Ha Ha I said Balls). You can ask for these "Cards" that are made of Plastic, thier about the size of an MD just a little thicker. As you leave in a small lobby area there is a widow, Well not really a window more like a covered window with a slot near the bottom. Slide the cards in Money (Yen) comes out.
It sounds like the OP is talking more about an "Arcade" IE. Amusment only type place. If thats the case they have no cash value.

There is money to be received in pachinko, that is why there are so many parlors and people who play pachinko. You can trade your pachinko balls for a stuffed animal or something toy like. Then you go to window that is just outside of the pachinko parlor. There you trade the toy or whatever for cash. No need to hide or be sneaky. Is it illegal? Ask the off duty street cops who are in there playing pachinko.

You change you pachinko balls for tokens in the palor then you go to the small window somewhere just outside the palor to change it into cash. I know this sounds strange but it will be there but maybe around the back. Good luck! PS. i won 20,000 yen last year and i was hooked so be careful!!!!!!!!11

One of my friends dad is the manager of a Pachinko joint near kagoshima. I went there with my friend cuz i had never tried pachinko before (lets face it, doesn't look lik the most exciting thing to do)
I went there with 5000 yen, played some games for awhile, won a bunch of metal balls, several baskets full in fact...and then my friends dad came around to see how i was doing. So i showed him my haul and he said good good and since we were done, he brought me up to the counter. I had three baskets full of balls, the girl at the counter took the baskets and gave me three pencils, unsharpened ones..one was red, one was yellow and one was blue. In my head, I'm thinking "WTF, I just dropped 5000 yen, and all i got to show for it is three bleepin pencils..and what a retarded prize anyway!" But, then my friends dad said follow him. So he leads me outside, walk across the parking lot to a shack. There is a window at the shack, and friends dad says give them the pencils, which I did, and they gave me back 15,000 yen. Dats what i'm talkin bout! Pachinko aint' so bad after all ! My friend lost, he didn't get squat hahaha. Which meant I had to pay for him at the kaitenzushi cuz he was broke...doh!

No. Generally, you're supposed to get a prize at the Pachinko place (some stupid little ditty no one wants) and then find a place where you can get rid of that for actual money.

Yes, just exchange your balls for the lighter flints or whatever they give you to exchange (don't let them give you ciggies or snacks if it's cash you want) and follow the other winners to the redemption window. Good Luck!
