Then one needs to re-think what truly makes them happy. If you never had these things, how do you know if they will make you happy. When I couldn't afford them, I read books, volunteered with groups that involve traveling and hobbies and did research about the things I wanted and then worked my *** off to be able to afford them. But once I had them... they didn't really make me happy.
You find happiness in yourself and what you do have...not wasting time wishing for the intangibles.

i know what you mean with the paints and stuff.. but if something is your goal and money is stopping it then all that is is a hurdle. something that is going to make you grow. a challenge...
so you don't have enought money to travel.. heck i don't either.. but i have other things that make me very happy as well. but that's when you find a way to get the money... side jobs .. an increase in pay.. ect.. you know the phrase "if there is a will there is a way"
that's more true then what people want to beleive.. i mean we all think there is some shortcut and yeah some people do get a break. but that's someone else not who we are.
when one person can not find a short cut they start to beat thems selfs up , run, fight that challenge or just do nothing. and if you think about it objectly abliy each one on what you would do.. if you were to run what do you think the outcome would be... if you did nothing what would the outcome be? now if you stood up and fight it what could theout come be. okay it you may have to have a few tries we may not have thatskill so we learn that skill then next time we have it...
growth is what it's about and when you stop growing you die.
some times the risk of doing that fight gives you such a rush and that only can be fun and make you happy!
i mean you if you really mean what you typed then you really have nothing to lose but to try every single answer on this board (that's senceable")
good luck

I think people tend to look at and expect the wrong things when they are searching for things that make them happy.
I think the secret is that the effect of outside stimulation, such as you mentioned: travel and expensive hobbies do not fulfill what you are really after.
Outside things don't "make" you happy. They don't "Make" you anything. You "become" happy by the pleasure you experience while being in that environment.
It is not the environment itself, or the thing itself that "Makes" you happy. It is how you feel when you experience that stimulation.
People talk about how much they "Love to Travel". Until they end up having to do it all the time.
I do it for a living and on my vacations from work, I rarely leave my house. Change of work is rest. Change of environment is stimulating.
But the stimulation isn't what is impacting you. It is ultimately, the way you feel internally about it.
Big ticket stuff is just stuff.
Create your happiness and use your life and consciousness as your canvas. Create with your life. Invent with your mind. Teach others and if you think of life that way, you simply won't have time to worry about what you are missing. Because in reality, you won't be missing a thing.

Have you ever seen the "priceless" commercials? The answer to your question is simple! Money doesn't buy happiness! If you feel like you need things all the time it's probably just to fill an empty space inside of you. Friends and family, are were you need to look for your daily dose of happiness. Having fun with people. And if your actually wondering about the art... have you ever heard of ten thousand villages? Look it up! It's amazing what you can make out of nothing!

If the things that make you truly happy are only things you have to pay for, you are probably not going to be truly happy even if you got them.
Appreciate and love the things you have instead.

According to research, married people are more happy than bachelors. Family provides stability and security. Happiness does not lie with material things. As soon as you get something that you have always wanted, it immediately looses its charm. Try focusing on relationships which are always longer lasting and more enjoyable.

Good health is PRICELESS. Without good health you have NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, NOUGHT. If you had $40 million and had a stroke that left you half-blind and half-paralyzed in chronic pain, you would give up all your $40 million in a heartbeat to get back a healthy pain free body. Now go and work out regularly, don't take good health for granted, work at it, and build your life, and carerr from that cornerstone.

try and find something that makes you happy with what you have. if you are looking for happiness in what you cant get, you just set yourself up for disappointment and you become blind to the fact that here might indeed be something right there in front of you that you didnt know was there before.
