No,Islam is way of life and is a religion.Capitalism is a economic system that tolerates almost everything as long as it can generate sales, profits and jobs.
it is interesting to know that Islam ,Christains and Jews have co-existed for a long tme and quite peacefully together until Israel occupied Palestine.

Dear Ahmed, capitalism is not an ideology. It happens no matter whether people want it or not and is based on private ownership of means of production. Western values have evolved based on Christian values but the Western societies are not Christian. In fact, they are not religious, they are secular. That is why they allow for freedom of denomination and worship.
If you look at European history, you will see that the relation between the Church and the State has evolved through the centuries. There was a time when the Church in fact ruled (the Middle Ages), and there were Christian states, of much the same type as the present Islamic states. The people in these societies had to follow very strict rules of living to ensure they lived a righteous life. Example: divorce was not possible, as Christianity teaches one should have one marital partner for life. You know the present situation.
In fact, what Christianity prescribes as a way of righteous living is very close to Islam. However, Islam is so specific, it seems to leave very little room for development. Look at fashion or art for instance.
The most serious issue for me, however, is the position of women. Imagine how you would feel at 35 degrees C with your body fully covered. And why - because some man could have thoughts about you. Well, why should it be the woman's problem? Plus, how do you choose your best fit, if you can't see them? If the idea is that just about anyone should do - well, this is not the case. So, what you have as a result is a society of hipocricy.
Bottomline is: Islam is younger than Judeism and Christianity, there is no reason to think it cannot evolve and develop to allow people to live lives of more choices and concentrate on true values and righteousness, not on clothes items for instance. Can it replace capitalism - no, you don't replace sleep with food.

Both disregard the rights of a considerable number of people. I recently read a novel by a Pakistani writer and the examples she gave of Islamic law in practice made me shudder e.g. the 18 year old blind woman raped who was then charged with adultery, or the idea that rape could only be provided 4 men could be brought to court to testify in the woman's favour. This was during the 1980's but even so, judging by what happened in Afghanistan recently (women being beaten for wearing white socks, attacks on female children attending mixed schools or further education), Islamic law in practice is profoundly hostile to women. Which kind of makes a mockery of those who would have us believe that Islam is not misogynistic
Give me the devil we know.

I highly doubt islam is an ideology to replace capitalism, this is mainly as the two can co-exist in such countries as Dubai. Also to all your ignorant people who say Islam has no art I think you are highly mistaken, just look at the beautiful mosques as such in Muslim countries, and spreading religon by war? Im sure every religon has done that at some point.
Oh and just for the record I am an anti-capitalist and have no god, so in theroy im impartial! :)

Islam is not just a religion, it is a complete way of life. Koran contains all the principles need to establish a balanced society. When fair and just leaders ruled the Islamic state during the time of Omar ibn Abdel aziz, there was no single poor or hungry person. The rich did not know to whom can they pay their zakat. The ongoing war on Islam is just giving the believe more strength. Here in Europe there are European converting each day to Islam, not because the religion is spread by wars and sword as some idiots think, it is because it is the only complete and sensible religion.

I'm sorry but I am about to rain on your parade.
Your question does not compute. Islam is a religion, capitalism is an economic system. You will get farther comparing the Space Shuttle to Cleopatra's barge, at least they are both a means of transportation.
As I said, sorry, your question makes no sense.

I agree with gimpalong.
If you had said:Will Islamic ideology replace Judaism and/or christianity then the answer would still have been a resounding no.
And ask yourself just one question: How many muslim leaders and countries are financially CORRUPT?

Islam is a denial of just about all we value. It has no art, no literature, few decent sportsmen. No democracy, no plays, films or music. Women are required to be servile. Don't like it. Hate capitalism too. Much prefer a good social democracy.

There's nothing new about religion of any kind. And, I think you'll find that the worship of money has always existed, hand-in-hand with religion, throughout human history.
