Below, I've posted something I love that encourages us to listen to all people. But, truly, when people are boring, and I'm stuck with them, I spice things up. I call Bush a mass-murdering gangster, or I say - what's with God saying after the flood that he put the rainbow in the sky to remind HIM not to kill us all again - why does god need a post-it note? if things are going boringly, and you're part of the conversation....

Desiderata

-- written by Max Ehrmann in the 1920s --

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

No way....you get one life and every minute wasted being bored by some boring lifeless lacklustre mind with no joie de vivre whatseover, is a waste of time.

Would you tolerate a trainspotter when they start rambling on in that stereotypical geeky voice, about the 6:26 from paddington.....

"oooohhhhh it's a number 4310 great Northern.......you don't see many of them these days.....you can tell it apart from the 4311 by it's dining car, oh aye look it's at least 'alf a foot longer"

at this point I would be personally reaching for a heavy blunt instrument.

No toleration!!

In a way I think it's arrogant to consider.

But there ARE boring people out there. I guess though, whoever is boring to you may be an absolute barrel of laughs to someone else.

My friend says that if you're in a group of people and one of them hasn't contributed anything to the proceedings within 20 minutes then they should be booted OUT of there!

He bores me a little bit sometimes.

And - I hate to say this - but it is possible that sometimes even you bore people.

I'm here aren't I?
Also if people don't bore me much, I starve myself of companionship so much, that I find even the most bored of the boring interesting.
Now am I boring you?

Don't—it takes all kinds to make up the world. Thank God that everyone and everything is different......so much variety (in trees, plants, fruits, flowers, animals, humans) is why we have such a beautiful planet.

Could it be that you may be boring the other person and that person is responding in a similar style, hoping you will understand . . . . .must go, I am getting bored!
