Wet tail is a very deadly thing for hamsters. Wettail is often caused by stress, and often taking it to the vet will kill it off. You can get wettail medicine at a lot of petstores, and definately at Petsmart. Use the kind that you can put in its water bottle, or feed to it with an eye dropper. If the hamster isnt treated immediately, he could die from wettail, but dont loose hope, most of the hamsters I have treated have gotten worse before they have gotten better. If the hamster is too weak to go over to the water bottle, give him the medicine orally. But at this point it may be too late. Make the hamsters cage real clean and comfy for the little guy, and avoid touching and handling him, as this can cause more stress. Let her sleep. Dont feed him regular hamster mix. Feed him hamster lab blocks, as this is better for him and will harden up his stools. You might have to crush them up if he's having trouble eating. You can also give him some dried oatmeal (plain, no flavors) and some crushed banana to munch on too. Keep the hamster in a dimly lit and quiet room so he can get some peace and rest. And dont forget to tell him that you love him a lot.

Wettail is usually caused be excessive stress, which could be from moving from the pet store to home, moving to another room, a noisy area, a pet or kid disturbing its house a lot, getting woken from sleep too much, or old age, etc. It can also be caused by a virus or bacteria, which is less likely but very possible, in which case would require medical attention from a vet. But like I said before, sometimes the stress alone from going to the vet can kill it off, so be very very careful. Good luck to you. I hope your buddy gets better. Those links above are very useful too.

I am not an expert in hamsters, but wet tail is lethal for a hamster. My sister is a school teacher that has hamsters for the kids. She says wet tail kills them. Try seeing a vet or google it to see if there is anything you can do. I am sorry. Good luck.

This is not diarrhea. Go to the vet antibiotics to help clear it up fast! With all this hot weather and u do not clear it up fast, she might get a thing called "fly strike" which is partners with wet tail. This is when flies lay eggs on her tail and they hatch and then begin to eat at her flesh. I have seen this on my hamsters be4, took them to the vet, 1 died the other didn't...

Wet Tail is a legitimate disease for Hamsters. Whether or not she can be saved depends on how long she's been sick.

don't give or do anything to the little guy until you call a vet. Like the one answer said taking him in could kill him off, so just call.
