It might be more properly termed "idoecide." I believe the word "genocide" implies an ethnic component. If the people all believed the same thing, but were not related by ethnicity, then I don't believe it would technically be "genocide." But for practical purposes, I suppose it would be categorized as such.

But the word "genocide" is thrown around very loosely these days. A story in "The Nation" a few years ago noted that native central American youths in Guatemala were found to be listening to gangsta rap. "The Nation" concluded that this was "genocide," because these kids were not listening to their native traditional music - therefore, American culture had committed genocide against them.

Such silliness. And that kind of thinking cheapens TRUE genocide, such as the Nazi Holocaust or Stalin's starving of 10 million people in Ukraine in the 1930s.

Yes,Hitler killed the jews,Sadam killed the Kurds,the Islamic extremists want to kill the non-muslim believers.Many countries are killing people of faith.People need to wake up and see thats what the muslims are wishing to accomplish.Lets pray that we[women]will not all be wearing burkas.

Genocide...insanity....pure evil....all those terms fit.

However IF those people wanted YOU dead and were trying to kill you and your countrymen.....that would be self defense...and totally acceptable.
