...is it that France was giving gifts like the Statue of Liberty to the US, rather than the other way around?

politics, nothing more. France realized that even when the statue of liberty was given to the u.s. that the u.s. was in the process of becoming a world power. It was their attempt at getting in the u.s. good graces. It was also a 100 years after the debt was incurred during the revolutionary war and I believe it had already been forgiven by then.

From what I understand this was a gift from the free masons in France illuminati type to show dominance for the upcoming new world order. Seriously- it a continued link between the American and French revolution that changed the course of western civilization, culture, and history from then until now.

We gave France two multibillion-dollar gifts - we saved their tails in WWI and WWII...and since they never repaid their war debt, let's call it even.
