This is a very difficult question. It's debatable especially when you try look at it from different angles. For example it might seem just from an aggressor or defender's point of view but not the other.
We might argue that no war is just as nothing is worth killing other humans for. Yet however, perhaps at times the only way to rid a country of its oppressors is to use war.
I would refrain from using any particular examples because as I said different people from different sides would have very contrasting opinions.
The justification for war is always given by leaders and sometimes without proper research we think they are ridiculous. For example, while it is undoubtably true that Hitler was a very evil man, he went to war to rid Germany of its crippling debt to the Allies and to give the German people an identity. If they British or the French had been in a similar situation I have little doubt that they would have gone to war too.
But please note I'm not promoting Hitler or the Nazi party at all. Just one has to realise wars don't just happen, there are always complex reasons and difficult calls for leaders to make.

This is a trick question, as the answer is subjective to the individual being asked.
One could say that the Iraq war is just because of the fact that a tyrannical murdering dictator has been deposed.
I'm sure Hussein and many formerly powerful regime Iraqis wouldn't find it to be jsut, however. Many Muslims also would not agree, based on their distaste for having a largely Christian force invading and occupying (a la Crusades) a Muslim nation.
This idea can be applied to any war, so the question is specific to individual opinions, and if looking for a broad answer, is moot.

What is Justice?
A just war could be one in which the side that lost the war did the most injustices before and during the war.

How about "just cause", instead?
Most wars are over trade and territory under the guise of some ideology.
Smacking down a threat is justified easily be the smacker. So, if you've been messing with my stuff and I punch you in the nose, that is 'just cause.' Ramp that up to about two million people involved and it's a Just War.

It is not so much this or the other means of making war that is immoral or inhumane. What is immoral is war itself, it can never be just. Once full-scale war has broken out it can never be humanized or civilized, and if one side attempted to do so it would be most likely to be defeated. That to me is the lesson of Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and the holocaust.

There will never be a just war because one side is the one that is taking advantage of the other side and killing and damaging people can never really be justified because there will always be a but... or a what if...

Whoever wins will always be able to justify war. That said nuclear weapons are equal opportunity killers.

Liberation wars, wars against occupying forces (i.e. if the bullies south to my border ever dare to invade us, woe to them), such are just wars.
