I am an american soldier, currently deployed to the war in Iraq. I've got quite a bit of time before I make it back home to my wife, who is patiently waiting for me, and I want to make her feel really amazingly special. I was wondering, on a woman's perspective, what would be an over the top kind of a way to say "I'm home, I've missed you, I love you, and I want to do something special for you"? I've got about eight months to figure it out, but I enjoy planning things like this, I just need some great ideas to get the ball rolling. Thanks for your help.

sweetie first let me say thank you for what you do! my children's father is also a deployed service member and it is tough on everyone involved

i think it is awesome that you are thinking ahead -- plan a trip if you can for when you return (just u and her) somewhere special or where she has always wanted to go and don't tell her until you are headed to the airport

but during the next 8 months i think sometimes men don't realize it gets tough don't just use email send her special little handwritten notes, cards, and if you can once a month send her flowers to the house if she doesn't work but if she works to her job :)

good luck and stay safe you have made me smile knowing that soldiers do think of their spouses in this way

my prayers to you and your family

Me, personally, because I love to travel and I love to get away for a weekend from everyone and everything accept my guy. I would love to be whisked away to a hotel on a beach or other romantic setting where we could just be together alone and create good memories and be in our own little fantasy world. Do a lot of little sentimental and chivalrous things to make it completely and utterly unforgetful. Put a photo album or scrapbook together of all the moments of past and give it to her. Do her favorite things that weekend and make it all about her, sexually and otherwise. If she likes going to chinese...plan that. If she likes chocolates or flowers, have them ready. If she likes theatre, buy the tickets. Whatever her desires are, make her the whole reason for the weekend and she will never forget.

Well, I've given this little idea out before, but it's pretty special, so I'll share it with you too. Do whatever else you're going to do, then try this. Get a box, (wooden or cardboard) about 4inches by 4 inches. Put a bunch of cotton balls in it, and sprinkle them with a little bit of glitter. Next, Get a skeleton key, and put it on top of those cotton balls. Then wrap the box in either nice wrapping paper, or a pretty color of velvet material, and wrap the box, tieing it at the top with a ribbon to hold it closed. Then get a little card and write on it, "You still hold the key to my heart." I did this for my husband, and he said it meant more to him than anything I've ever given him. Just an idea. Good luck, soilder.

so suprise her, show up at your door with 2 dozen red roses and a book ( start a book everyday for your next 8 months write her a letter or something you miss about her) make arrangements if you have kids for them to be away for the night if you live by a river plan to have a carriage ride by the river pack a dinner for the both of you and feed it to her like fruits and finger foods find a really neat key neclace and give it to her and tell her no matter how far away you are she will ALWAYS have the key to your heart or you could get a heart neclace and tell her she will always have your heart

Get in touch with a family member or friend that you can trust and have them arrange a nice romantic night out...complete with babysitting (if needed) dinner reservations, overnight accomodations, champagne(or wine) & flowers in the room...the works! (Doesn't have to be done expensively....if she's a nature girl, look for a little romantic cabin.??) You could even have them throw together a little overnight bag for the 2 of you with the basic essentials and have it already in the room. It would be so sweet if it were all worked out to where you left for it straight from your reunion with her. Literally ~*WHISK*~ her away......

Just give her a night of just you and her...she'll wonder HOW in the world you arranged all of this while overseas...and it will give the 2 of you time to only concentrate on one another. Not to mention, you deserve it to! I applaud you and the brave commitments/sacrifices you have made for your country and all of us.

You are a great man, and hero to all of us who can't be where you are, (fighting for our country). I also think your great because usually, men arent that romantic as to prepare something so special for his wife. A long night of flowers, wine, dinner and love making sould do the trick. Im sure she misses you and thinking of you actually being there will probably be as good as any gift. God bless you and keep you safe.

I think just being there is enough for her. After such a long time she will be so happy just to see your face again. Stay at a super luxurious hotel, one with room service spa the whole 9 yrds. This is good for getting awya from the day to day life she leads while your gone. Having someone wait on her hand an foot will be so delightful while spending every wonderful minute with you. Go get massages together and jsut kick it for a weekend or so. this is what me and my bf do when we get bored with our day to day routine. good luck

ooooh, this is a good question! i am a woman and we all want romance. your wife is incredibly lucky to have a man who has eight whole months to plan something to really sweep her off her feet! i don't know your wife but i can tell you what i secretly wish my husband would do for me someday. first off, we all love those sappy romantic movies like sleepless in seattle, when harry met sally, etc. find out casually what her all time favorite romantic movie is. see; when we watch these movies, we imagine ourselves as the woman in the movie. then you do what the leading man in the movie does. it would be especially nice if her favorite movie was set in wartime. well, i'm off to daydream about my husband now- hope it goes well for you!
p.s. thank you for fighting for our country! i don't believe in the war, but i support our brave soldiers with all my heart!

I would say just you coming home would be the best thing for me but if you want to do something fun and special maybe go on a cruise for a few days. you can get a pretty good deal.you both can spend time alone and relax and have lots of sex!lol

Are you coming home with your company?

If so, can you arrange it with your buddies so they all walk out of the plane first, form two lines, have one take your wife's hand and escort her to the beginning of the line, and then you walk out of the plane to greet her??

This was my husband's idea, but I think it sounds sweet. He's been through a war too. Best wishes for a safe return, hon. All our thoughts are with you.
