True love means different things to me.
Never wanting to be with out that person
wanting to put your true love above all
worring about if that person is safe healthy and happy
its a feeling you get with in when you are with a certain person
its a smile you get when you think of that person
its waiting up all hours of the night just to watch them walk through the door and say good night
when your child is born and you see them for the first time and all you can do is cry for the love you didnt know you had in you

This question can't be answered in any satisfactory way. Only that you know it when you've felt it. Untill then, it's not really clear what it is. It would be like describing how things sound to someone who's completely deaf. You can't describe it in any way that they'd suddenly realise exactly what you're talking about. The best you can do is to convince them that it means a lot to you.
So likewise, those that have experienced true love can tell you how wonderful it was but that's as much as they can really tell you. You'll know when you're there.

True love is dealing with all the hard thing about the person your with and still looking over and not being able to see yourself without them forever. The sex appeal will fade your looks will fade. Life and money will become hard and overwhelming and if you still wake up and say I love that person still so much you know you have true love.

Hi
As it would say a letter of a music J. Quest "To love is not to always have certainty, it is to accept that nobody is perfect pra nobody, is power to be you yourselves and not to need to dissimulate, is to try to forget and not to obtain to run away..." When you love, you she starts to enxergar the things for the best side that they have, you is felt more powerful, capable to face the world, everything and any thing... The love is a wonderful feeling, that in stimulates them, that in it gives force to them. Without it in them we become emptinesses and superficial, the love is that tenuous line between madness and the rationality and at the same time it is as the sea: it possesss the firmness of the waves but it is sensible as a soft breeze in the end of one afternoon. Love, is to feel the heart to beat strong more when we see the person loved, love never does not finish, true love only exists one, To love is to enxergar the things as they truily are... are to be happy for simply receiving the one from the biggest gifts of skies... love... love...
I wait to have help you...
Well, my name is Mira, I'm Brazilian, if it will be some missed thing, forgives me... smiles...
Kiss

I think true love means that no matter what the one you love does, good or bad, you love for the person is the same . You will to give up anything for them. You always hope that the person is happy, even it breack your heart. You willing to do anything to make the person's life good and happy. No matter how miserble you feel seeing the person will make you happy. You'll feel that the person is all you need to make your life happy.

Even though she cares about me she won't give me a chance. So, I'm supossed to respect her decision.
I did.
However, I love her and love has its way to make itself manifest.
I drove the whole night, across two Canadian provinces, in the middle of a typical, horrible, life threatening Canadian winter, right after Christmas night, only to be in her town before dawn (and I got there right at the break of day), just to place my present at her door.
No cards.
No handwritting.
Just the words: "Loving you" (in her language)
Drove back.
Never heard of her.
I just wanted to love her.
True love? She might say: "Yes, indeed"
Powerful, yet fruitless.

There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.
