They certainly do. All cancers originate as anger and stress which has been 'stuffed' back down into the body, or repressed in some way. Anger, stress and negativity all run down the body's natural defences. A lifetime of negativity leads to the development of ingrained depressing thoughtforms in the psyche, and negative energy forms in the body. That's why pessimistic people are usually unhealthy, and come down with all sorts of afflictions; whereas positive people are often healthier.
Optimism and cheerful attitudes encourage the production of endorphins, or 'feelgood factor' hormones which help the body's natural healing mechanisms.
Stress can strip the body of energy: often, a lot of mental energy is expounded and you feel more and more tired. It also strips the body of all sorts of nutrients, weakening it further. When people are stressed and tired, they may turn to stimulants such as caffeine or alcohol - either to wake them up or pick them up - not realising that these dehydrate the body, and further compound the lack of energy.
Finally, a lifetime of anger and stress will attack the body at cellular level, leading to the physical production of ailments. These might first manifest as something relatively minor like constipation, but may then 'deepen' to surface as an absyss, and finally as a cancer.
Think of it as negativity is the 'seed' which when planted in the mind, will 'bloom' into a cancer or other 'growths.'

During my training in a job once we were told that positive people got positive things, that their lives were positive and they would achieve positive results ...... and the same the other way around if you were a negative person ..... a bit like having a positive or negative bank manager - if you invested in the positive bank then you would get positive returns/interest and if you invested in the negative bank then you would get negative returns/interest ......
the human psyche is a very strange and yet wonderful thing - we don't have to say a thing to another person .... yet people will react towards us in reciprocation of the 'vibes' we put out .....
So, to answer your question more directly, particularly from a hostic point of view, the answer is ....... Yes......
Your frame of mind is shaped by the majority of the type of constant thoughts you have, in turn your body responds to the positive/negative hormones, ions or whatever they are called so that you yourself, your body, responds in a positive/negative reciprocal manner ...... younger people may appear to be able to get over the effects of these reciprocal responses quickly and easily, but the fact that they have happened will, as with everything else, leave their mark on your mental and physical being ...... as we get older and our mental and physical abilities become less able to cope with such strong actions/reactions ..... we begin to suffer the knock on effects of the things that have happened in the past, compounded by the things that will appear to start happening in the present (in reality they are a build-up over our lives to bring us to that point) ..... I'm not saying we shouldn't have down/depressed times - they're what make us appreciate more the up/happy times - I'm saying that if we take a philosophical view of what appears to be negative in our lives, the 'everything happens for a reason - and I'm on a need to know only basis....' attitude - then we can go a long way to helping ourselves not only in the present but also in our future ......

what you are asking may well lead to a higher disposition to clinical depression at any time but may be enhanced as you get older. But your own disposition to handle such matters will also play a major part in the final outcome. Remember there it plenty of help for you to get.

Definitely yes. Mental health issues are caused by genetics, the presence or lack of coping skills learned in childhood, and stresses that overwhelm the person's ability to apply their coping skills.

I think that this is so, though it can be affected by the individuals ability to deal with the stress - and the way that we perceive it, and the way that we deal with both our emotions and the conflicts.
However, it is a theory with, as I understand it, some evidences to the contrary on both sides of the coin.

Only if you allow these things to affect you. Accepting that life isn't fair and that we have to cope with what life gives us is a positive way of living. have the courage to change the things you can; live with the things you can't
