I would have to say Tom Hanks as every performance that he performs you are either laughing or crying or sometimes even both, Tom Hanks films generally make you feel good, Tom can carry of serious roles (the green mile, Apollo 13), comedy roles (big), and hard roles (Forest gump), romantic lead (sleepless in seatle, you have got mail). just to mention a few.

Today, Daniel Day Lewis and Nicole Kidman, because they do stage as well as film work. Of all time, a toss up between Laurence Olivier or Marlon Brando for best actor, and Katherine Hepburn for best actress.
