I don't think communists will ever admit the success of the USA. The USA has many resources and therefore "should be" able to succeed under any government.

Let us turn our attention to a modern miracle of anti communism. The success of Hong Kong. This city's recent economic success has been more effective to combat communism than any war ever fought IMO. Hong Kong is a rock... a rock that sticks out of the water.... and has no resources. There is nothing to explain its success but hard work and market competition.

Also communist societies almost always limit information coming into their countries. North Korea isn't even allowed to watch soap operas (which isn't a bad piece of legislation IMO jk). It is hard to oppress people with goggle. To restrict everyone from having access to the Internet is a huge bullet to the economy. It is increasingly difficult for communism to succeed without the technology of countries with more consumer choice. Technology is probably the other main reason why those countries are realizing the mental oppression wont work. Might as well let them trade however they want and just threaten them with a large army. You'll keep power in the short run and not have to worry about regulating the economy.

Don't confuse capitalism with democracy. You can have capitalism in a dictatorship. Historicly most dictators are greedy and want ALL the power but China now posseses hong kong. If they contine to be the most capitalist society they will have just as much sucess under china as they did under GB.

The planes economies have such luxury's as having extra dirt with your dirt dinner or just plane dirt with dinner. They did not work and was not a good thing, so they looked across to the Great USA and saw what we have and duh, the key is are free market.

Just look at china the old USSR and soon one day the middle east, democracy will only grow in a free market.

Large-scale failure to deliver sufficient amounts and variety of food and consumer goods. Planned economies, as Joseph Schumpeter once put it, are planned for war. This planning eats up ever-increasing share of nation's resources, until the whole economy breaks down...

The main factor in my opinion is that those who were in charge of the planning performed very poorly. Consequently, they decided to give up and throw in the towel.
