i am thinking of buying a personal music player and have seen many good and bad comments about ipods.

so which one do you think is best, and why?? is ipod better than creative zen for instance (they are the only names i know) and why?

is there any better? i don't want to screw up my computer when i work with the software or websites putting songs onto the player.

and i definitely don't want to have to spend a fortune on music.

which has the best option for downloading songs? do any of the players come with a certain number of songs free with purchase of the player?

which ones hold up to abuse the best? i drop things a lot.

what about the new speakers that can be obtained. are they any good?? i have actually seen them at big lots. that is a scary thought.

any and all advice is tremendously appreciated.

thanks!!

I have a creative zen Nano 512mb Its great for around town but when i go on long trips I run out of music. I got a belkin fm transmitter so i can use my factory radio which is great but the reception is only good when I have it plugged in via the lighter port(seems to work as antenna) I still love it, the software is easy to use its just like loading a jump drive. Its very portable fits anywhere I dropped a couple times and it still works. Ah what else I guess the major down fall is the limited memory it was cheap though so I may just buy a couple more and then when one runs out of music Ill switch to another. Any way if I had big money I guess I would do a lot of things different. creative zen is a good buy for the money

i Like Sandisk Sansa e250 the best i owned rca tons others but they died or droped or sold the sansa 3d50 has 2 gb built in and a microsd slot to expand from there and windows moves the files for you all it has a metel back to avoid breaking i pirate all my music with bittorent software and use web sites like thepiratebay.com and isohunt.com for full discographys of my fav bands/groups and limewire to get single songs and i never had a virus or spyware i use bitcomet.com clinet for .torrent files and i have 30plus gb and as for size ipod is big but if you drop and break it your out 300 plus and my sansa on sale cost me 90 bucks allso ipods are big the software to transfer filles sucks and with anything but the ipod windows does the work all you do is right click go down to send to and pick your mp3 player and away you go fast and easy and if you need more room its upgradeable and you can replace the battary from home with there batt kit and the battary is only 20 with the ipod you have to take it in and there parts and labour not just parts so there my 2 cents
