80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

Life is a drop of water swerving about on the lotus leaf unlikely to stick to it. All this is out there for all to see. Rest content wondering .No better option at hand for now. Plenty of life to live such questions . Diagreeable ?

Life is actions, thoughts and words.Life is a chronically sequence of changing scences in this living world. Life is all around us, even when we are alone , we are where life is.A good life can be found in these places: Where you find God, among family, where good friends can be found, where there is meaning-ful productivity, contentment, peace and love.

Look around us is the best answer to know what is life and where is life. You can get it through some of the notable readings or through medias, but to know what and where exactly it is, you have to recognize it by looking around.
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain - Emily Dickinson

Life is called in Sanskrit 'prana'. Prana is not simply breathing in and out. That is only symptom of the existence of prana in this body. Prana is a consciousness of oneself. This consciousness will remain intact even after leaving the body. The body goes to the elements like fire and earth and the prana goes to God, its origin or gets recycled in the chain birth and death, depending on the stain of your karma.

Something has life if it can actively engage with its surroundings. So plants count as life as they use the materials surrounding them to grow. Similarly single celled organisms count as they actively seek out food.
