Because the Cardinals and Tigers are not as popular as say the Yankees or Red Sox (ew lol). They were considered "no name" teams, even though the Cardinals are more known. The World Series would have gotten BETTER ratings if the Yankees were in the World Series.

Because neither of the teams were any good. Tiger lost 21 of 31 to finish as the wildcard and the Cards only had 83 wins.
It should have been Mets vs Yanks.

because only die hard baseball fans watch it. baseball season is super long as it is. by the time the world series comes around, people are tired of baseball.
