I'm white, early 40's. I travel over 200,000 miles a year on airlines for business. And I've never been "randomly searched."
One of my colleagues, whose ancestry is Southern Italian and has a bit of a "swarthy" look, gets pulled aside for "random" searches all the time. Darn near every time he travels. It got so bad, with the delays this creates, that I stopped traveling with him so I wouldn't be late!
Nothing "random" about those airport searches. At all. :(

I'm white with an Irish passport and was randomly searched nearly all the time when I travelled between Chicago and London. When I travelled London to Dublin, and any other Euopean city I was never searched.
I was very confused as to how I kept being"randonly" searched when going to Chicago, it hapened everytime maybe 7 or 8 times in a row. I travelled to Chicago alot as my then fiancee lived there.
I discovered if you have 4 of the letter S in the bottom right of your boarding pass this means you will be searched. Why they seem to pick certain people I do not know.

Yep. White male. My whole family has been searched multiple times at airports. All white males (4) except my mom.

entering a court house for jury duty, at concerts I've had stuff taken out of my purse and tossed in the trash can by security, at airports I had things removed from my luggage and thrown out, going through customs, once I was in a car that was pulled over one guy ( white male) was pulled out of the car and searched, the cop said the car was similar to one that was wanted in a recent crime

I am a 51 year old white female.I travel alone. I am searched 90% of the time that I fly. I always say thanks for the security!
