The guy that I like is having a house warming get together. I want to get him a NICE gift. I can't decide whether to get him towels or cookware (both of which he needs and asked for). Which would make a better gift? I want it to be useful AND personal.

Assuming he did ask for both (I'm 52 and have never heard of a guy with enough common sense to ask for those things unless he was asking the girl he wanted to marry because to get things that suited her taste) get the towels but if you REALLY like him get them embroidered with his name if you have the time and money.

If you would like it to be personal, then take him a beautiful set of cookware. Leave the towels for those of his friends that maybe not be able to afford cookware.

Cookware with a few of your favorite recipes would be useful and personal.

cookware with a note saying how you'd like to help him cook up a meal in his new house ... or an invitation to cook him something :)
