Taking birth control pills gives you a 50/50 chance of gaining or losing weight. It is water retention if you gain & it's usually temporary.

Increase in appetite! Birth control doesnt cause weight gain. Weight gain occurs when you consume too many calories.

The only birth control that has been scientifically proven to cause weight gain is the depo-provera shot. The pill, the patch and the ring have not been proven to cause weight gain although it is often blamed for post puberty and puberty weight gain.
