If you both want children. How long you want to wait before having children. After you have children will one of you stay home to care for them. It's important to know if your partner feels that children need one parent with them to raise them or leave them to the care of others to raise while they are both working. Their view on cheating, it happens. What if one of you cheats, what the outcome would be. Family matters. Do you keep your marriage "your business" and not make it a family affair. Going to bed angry with one another. You should have an agreement that it never happens. The argument should be resovled first. An agreement on open communiction, that you can talk to each other about anything and everything. Compromise, very important. Romance, another important aspect of marriage. Not to loose it during the years of marriage. Hope these help!

The absolutely most important thing to learn about your potential mate is this: How do they resolve conflict? Are they passive, are they confrontational? Will your style of resolution be compatible with your mate or make things worse?
There will always be conflict in a relationship. We are all unique and come to marriage with different ideas and beliefs. The real trick is learning to make those differences work in the favor of a stronger union.
Yes, all those specific areas like religion and children and work, etc. matter. But nothing destroys a marriage quicker than disrespecting your partner because you said something in the heat of the moment.

I am sure that you know all of the basics (children, jobs, where to grow old, future plans...) My fiance and I have one cardinal rule that has worked great: Don't go to sleep mad at each other.
In to days day and age, you might also want to consider your sex life....Just what do the two of you classify as cheating?
What if a family member needs help? Are you going to allow them to stay with you? (this was a big factor on ending my last marriage).
Are you still going to be able to go out with the guys? Are any of you friends with ex's? Is this going to be OK?

A mutual agreement from both sides that no matter what happens, both must be willing to compromise, communicate and show respect.
Those three are fundamental but you have to be realistic that
in (marriage) life, theres bound to be unforeseeable and unpredictable matters that could relate or lead to misunderstanding.
Theres no other stronger key to being solid as a team than
a good sense of togetherness ;)
Let me assume,congratulations!

Do you both desire kids? How many?
How often do you both expect sex?
Who will take care of financial matters? (best if shared)
You two need to share common goals such as are you willing to move out of state for work or buy a house etc..?
Religion especially if you are both from vastly different religions. What religion will the kids be raised under?
