Well.. its hotter.. so more water in the air to go up abd condence.. to form clouds and rain.. in winter, the air is cold and can't hold much moisture...

Also, the electrons required for lightening discharge are looser and more easily attainable when its hoter...

So u hav both the things required for thunder storms in summer..

because of the humidity in the air which causes friction in with the cooler air in the clouds causes electricity just like when you get a shock from the carpet
