Skanky a Slang word to mean either of thetwo following things
1.repugnantly filthy or squalid
2.of low or sleazy character
its the adjective form of the noun skank which is used to describe
1.a person and especially a woman of low or sleazy character
the Etemology is unknown
Skank as a noun has another usage in Dance and music terms meaning
a rhythmic dance performed by swinging the arms while bending the knees especially to reggae or ska; also : the music for this dance
the Etymology for this meaning is Jamaican english
so in this sense 'skanky' is probably a particular dance term like 'Jazzy'.
a third meaning of Skank is as a transitive verb to mean
to bungle (a stroke) in golf (also a slang)
which is probably an alteration of probably alteration of 'shank'
which means : to hit (a golf ball or shot) with the extreme heel of the club so that the ball goes off in an unintended direction; also : to kick (a football) in an unintended direction.
