I would recommend going with O'Reilly's book titled "Javascript: the definitive guide" which not only shows you all the functions but covers them with examples, special notes, how to avoid traps and more.

Now the book is designed to be more of a reference than a tutorial book. However, a good reference book often shows the format of function name, description of arguments, and then a simple usage of it in an example.

I find this book a must have for javascript in my at work library. I have also found a few other books that I know work just as well and are highly recommended.

Have fun!

O'Reilly has 2 good books. Javascipt the Definitive Guide is more of a reference and they just released Learning Javascript which is more of a tutorial. Javascript with DOM Scripting and AJAX by Apress is a very good book too.
