my peev! I think that this a acceptable thing to do in the game of the road - it adds some balance to the unfairness of certain speed traps set up at a point just where the speed slows down and even a modest driver has not even had a chance to adjust thier speed - can you say MONEY GRAB!!??
Canadians sucks when it comes to this!!!!!

shannon G: i am Canadian to eh! - i feel it is ok to say anything i want about us as a community - sorry for the disrespect all the same!
AND it is not illegal to warn of a speedtrap! As far as i know, what the law have charged me with is "improper use of a highbeams!"
Very VERY easy to beat in court!!!!!

Here in Canada, it is illegal, although I have done it, before I knew of the law against it...
Thanks for the put down by the way... mighty neighbourly of you.
( smiling over here, no worries eh? )
Have a good one.

I flash my highbeams to simply mean "caution ahead." It could be because there is a wreck or a new construction site or a cop with someone pulled over along side of the road.

Not often; only during the day, and only if I'm certain the vehicle I'm attempting to "warn" isn't an unmarked officer.
It's almost impossible to tell at night, and sometimes even during the day... we've got unmarked Camaros as police cars around here; now, that's unfair!

I am a classic example for not loking how fast I am going alot of times and some of those times I have got a ticket. when I see the cop and look down and see-I know I'm in trouble
in those times I wish someone would have flashed me to warn me.
So yes I do warn people and flash my lights

If I feel the officer has an unfair advantage, then yes. However, after being in emergency medicine for over 15 years, I'm usually happy to see the cop and if you get pulled over, wave and let everyone know you found them and they can speed back up. You deserve to get busted if you're breaking the law.

In South Africa it is regarded as defeating the ends of justice. Several cases went to court, sentences were handed down, taken to appeal court, and sentences were upheld.

yup, i sure do! but at the same time, i have to get a chuckle when i see those flashing lights have stopped that jerk that cut me off 5 minutes ago, because he was driving like a idiot, and putting lives at risk.

I do it to protect someone from getting a ticket if I can. I think it's just a common courtesy.

You bet I do! It has saved my butt a few times. I do it for others as well, seems like the neighborly thing to do.
