In Windows Media Player, go to Tools > Options. Click on the "Rip Music" tab (I think this requires WMP version 9.0 or higher). Under "Rip settings," choose mp3 from the format dropdown box.

Unless you have an iPod, wma files will work with your portable music player. You can use Audacity to convert to mp3. It is free and there are version for Mac, Windows and Linux.

use freerip.com software its free and makes mp3 its fast and good better then windows media player
