I imagine the average Iranian citizen is just about like the citizen in any other country. They care about their families, they want to provide as much as possible for their children, they want to live a safe and happy life.
But just like in every country in the world it is the leaders we all have to worry about.

* They are/come from Iran
* They're not represented by the Khomeini or the Mahmud in power
* They don't have an ink of what's going on with their President's uranium madness (and will never benefit from such a craze)
* They copulate and make love
* They work hard and raise their children
* They are a peace loving nation
* They produce great movies, among the best I've ever seen
* They place a great deal of importance on educating their children
* They're bright
* I met a female lawyer who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace a few years ago.
* They're good looking (saw Iran's national team in the recent FIFA Soccer World Cup?)
* Iranian women are just jaw-dropping: stunning beauty.
* They're the main reason why we shouldn't allow Bush & Co drag the whole world into a unjustified war against Iran.
* They brush their teeth and say their prayers.
* There are Iranian Jews. There's tolerance in the country
* Teheran is awsome, and so are its inhabitants.
* They don't deserve a brutal judiciary system that is run by a 37 year old bloodthirsty boy.
* They come from centuries of rich history and an awful wealth of contributions to humankind.

Iran has a complex culture and history. Here's a few other Iranians I know of besides the much hyped Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or the deceased Grand Ayatollah Khomeini.
*Cyrus the Great: founder of the Achaemenid dynasty.
*Mullah Sadra:"greatest of Iran's philosophers"
*Avicenna (ibn Sina): Early Islamic physician,
philosopher "genius among geniuses"
*Shah Ismail I: Safavid ruler and Sufi master.
*Mohammed Mossadegh: Iranian Prime Minister 1951-1953,
overthrown with help from the CIA.
*Deep Dish: Iranian-American House DJs (Ali "Dubfire"
Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi) I've seen them spin several
times. They put on some the best shows. Going to see Deep Dish spin also proved true the legendary beauty of Iran's women.

Every Iranian I have ever met has been intelligent, hard-working and polite, as well as thoughtful above the normal run of folks I see daily. This is my own personal experience, but I imagine as a whole, they run the gamut like any other nationality. However, I am inclined to respect them because of the Iranians I have met.

as a group; they seem to be well educated with strong family values; i don't understand why their leader seems to be insane, but I wonder the same thing about my neighbours to the south (USA), too. I think if Iran could get representative leadership, that country could be a beacon for the middle east and the beginnings of stability. On the other hand, if things go on much longer the way they have for the past century, there isn't much hope for Iran
